Italians conceived of the albergo diffuso (scattered hotel) to bring tourism to deserted villages. Instead of guest rooms in a single building, they’re located in historic dwellings across the town. This summer, Albania’s first such hotel, Albergo Diffuso Kruja, will launch in the cobblestoned mountain town of Krujë, with rooms located in old rowhouses and an imposing sixth-century castle.
