Monocle, May 2024Most charming of all is the way Portella operates — not as a typical hotel, with a reception desk and a fixed schedule, but as a guest house, where everything from check-in to your breakfast order is handled informally and person-to-person.

Hotels Own Introduction
Portella: A 17th-Century Gem in the Heart of Palma de Mallorca
Nestled in the heart of Palma de Mallorca’s old town, Portella is an authentic 17th-century house meticulously restored to reflect its original charm. This boutique property is the result of a thoughtful renovation led by interior design studio Festen in collaboration with Gras Reynés Architecture Studio, using classical patterns and sustainable, natural materials.
Tailored Accommodations
Portella offers four room types, from standard rooms to a spacious two-bedroom apartment, with the option to reserve the entire building. Each space is adaptable to meet your needs, blending modern comforts with historic charm.
Unique Architecture and Wellness
The building breathes around its inner courtyard, preserving the original flow of its maze-like structure, all the way to the terrace. The former pottery ovens now house a wellness area, complete with a gym and steam bath, while the rooftop terrace offers stunning views of the Arab baths and Palma Cathedral.
Relaxing Common Spaces
The main living room, an extension of the patio, provides the perfect spot to relax in the afternoons, offering a tranquil retreat within the historic setting of Portella.
