Hotels Own Introduction
A Rainforest Retreat on Trancoso’s Coast
Brazil’s southern Bahia coast is a region where centuries of history, vibrant culture, and untouched natural beauty come together. Just a short distance from Trancoso’s historic town square lies Itapororoca Beach, one of the area’s most spectacular stretches of coastline. Here, white sands meet crystal-clear waters, while coral reefs create natural pools teeming with tropical marine life at low tide.
Historic Homes Reimagined
Set within a 15-acre Atlantic Rainforest reserve beside the ocean, UXUA Maré offers a secluded retreat immersed in nature. Conceived by designer Wilbert Das in collaboration with local artisans, the property is centred around three carefully restored antique farmhouses relocated from the neighbouring state of Minas Gerais. Each residence carries its own history and character, thoughtfully reimagined as a private sanctuary where traditional craftsmanship, authentic materials, and contemporary comfort exist in perfect balance.
A Relaxed Coastal Lifestyle
Life at UXUA Maré unfolds at an unhurried pace. Guests can spend their days enjoying the tranquil beach lounge, exploring the surrounding rainforest, or simply relaxing in the privacy of their accommodations. Warm hospitality and attentive service, inspired by the welcoming spirit of Trancoso, enhance the sense of connection to place and create an atmosphere of understated luxury.
Farm-to-Table Dining by the Sea
Just steps from the shoreline, Mesa Maré restaurant occupies a beautifully restored structure that once served as a simple shelter for local fishermen. Surrounded by fruit trees and flourishing gardens, the restaurant retains its traditional wood-burning stove while embracing contemporary touches. Under the guidance of chef Renata Buim, the menu celebrates the flavours of Bahia through seasonal ingredients sourced from the surrounding gardens and daily harvests from UXUA’s organic farm, creating a dining experience deeply rooted in the landscape and local culture.
