A Private Island in the Great Barrier Reef
With just 28 guests at any one time, Orpheus Island Lodge is an intimate all-inclusive retreat surrounded by the extraordinary beauty of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Set across more than 1,000 hectares of national park, the island stretches along 11 kilometres of pristine turquoise coastline, with fringing reef so close that guests can step directly from their beachfront accommodation into the Coral Sea.
An Intimate Island Escape
With just 14 rooms, suites and villas, Orpheus offers an exceptional sense of privacy. The accommodations have been designed to make the most of the tropical setting, while a major renovation has refreshed the experience for a new chapter. The North Beachfront accommodation was beautifully renovated ahead of the lodge’s reopening in July 2026, making Orpheus one of Australia’s newest luxury lodge experiences.
The Taste of the Tropics
Dining is central to the all-inclusive experience, with three gourmet meals prepared each day by the lodge’s culinary team. Fresh produce comes from the island’s own vegetable garden, while resident free-range chickens provide eggs for the kitchen. Local fishermen and suppliers contribute delicacies including fresh prawns, Coral Trout and painted rock lobster, bringing the flavours of the surrounding waters directly to the table.
Life on the Coral Sea
The lodge’s main pavilion brings together a bar and relaxed alfresco dining area, complemented by a restaurant, reading room and the Gwandalan Day Spa. At the heart of the property, a spectacular 25-by-13-metre infinity pool mirrors the shimmering Coral Sea, while the island’s pristine reef provides an extraordinary natural playground just beyond the shore.
An All-Inclusive Island Experience
Every stay includes three gourmet meals a day, a selection of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks, use of watersports equipment and a daily Orpheus experience. From snorkelling and exploring the reef to simply drifting beside the infinity pool, the days unfold around the rhythms of the island and the sea.
