A Breton Home Overlooking the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel

Château Richeux is first and foremost a home, where the team behind Maisons de Bricourt welcomes guests with discretion, warmth and understated elegance. Perched above the Breton coast, the property invites a slower pace of life, whether spent listening to the wind from the lounge over a warming grog or spiced infusion, or walking along the shoreline towards the port of Cancale with views across the bay to Mont-Saint-Michel.

Living with the Rhythm of the Tides

The Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel is a landscape shaped by extraordinary natural forces. Its immense tidal range, among the greatest in the world, transforms the coastline as the waters advance and retreat in response to the gravitational pull of the moon and sun. The result is an ever-changing panorama of sea, sand and sky, lending the setting an almost otherworldly quality.

Le Coquillage: A Taste of Brittany

At Le Coquillage, chef Hugo Roellinger translates his deep connection to Brittany into a distinctive culinary vision inspired by the sea, the coastal landscape and the region’s rural hinterland. His cooking explores the flavours of the ocean and the maritime world alongside ingredients from local fields and hedgerows, with spices from further afield adding depth and complexity.

Respect for nature lies at the heart of the restaurant’s philosophy. Roellinger and his team champion the work of local fishermen, growers and artisan producers, celebrating the character of Brittany while reflecting the wider journeys and influences that have shaped its culinary traditions.

Bains Celtiques: A Dialogue with Nature

Housed in the estate’s main farmhouse, the Bains Celtiques, or Celtic Baths, bring together elemental materials and panoramic views in a striking wellness setting. The experience begins in a former barn, where a magnificent granite fireplace with three hearths establishes a sense of rustic grandeur. Beyond it, stone and solid wood frame the bathing spaces, designed to open onto the surrounding landscape.

Whether sheltered or exposed to the elements, the baths bring together water, warmth and natural light, with carefully positioned openings framing views of the coast. Guests can swim against the current, rest against the stone ledges or simply watch the tides move across the bay. In every season, the experience offers a rare opportunity to reconnect with the rhythms of the natural world.

The Spirit of the Breton Coast

At Château Richeux, hospitality, gastronomy and wellness are inseparable from the surrounding landscape. From Roellinger’s expressive cuisine to the elemental calm of the Celtic Baths, each experience reflects a deep appreciation for Brittany’s natural riches and the ever-changing spectacle of the bay.
