Hotels Own Introduction

Fogo Island Inn: A Retreat on the Edge of the World
Perched on an island off the Northeast coast of Newfoundland, Fogo Island Inn offers a rare connection to nature's raw power. Each of the 29 unique guest rooms and suites faces the untamed North Atlantic, providing breathtaking floor-to-ceiling views of sea and sky. Designed by Newfoundland-born architect Todd Saunders, the 43,000-square-foot inn is built on stilts, embracing the coastline while respecting the surrounding natural environment.

Rooted in Sustainability
More than a luxury hotel, the Inn operates on principles of sustainability and community, with 100% of its operating surpluses reinvested back into the local community. This commitment to a sustainable and resilient future for Fogo Island drives the inn’s philosophy, ensuring it remains a community asset for generations to come.

Architectural Masterpiece
The Inn's architecture is a bold yet respectful nod to traditional Newfoundland outport design. Its sharp angles and rugged contours blend seamlessly with the island’s jagged landscape, while the stilts—reminiscent of outport fishing stages—minimize the building's footprint, protecting the rocks, lichens, and berries that make up the delicate terrain.

A Dining Experience Like No Other
One of the inn's most iconic spaces, the Dining Room, features a vaulted ceiling and sweeping ocean views that extend to the nearby community of Barr’d Islands. Depending on the season, guests can witness icebergs drifting by, whales breaching, or the full force of a North Atlantic storm. The dining room’s chandeliers, designed by Dutch designer Frank Tjepkema, showcase a beautiful wildflower motif, adding a touch of nature to this extraordinary setting.
