Praise
Not far from the Luangwa River, this might be the most famous lodge in Zambia, thanks to a resident herd of elephants that parade through the lobby from time to time. The 18 guest chalets overlook watering holes, which makes for excellent game viewing right at the lodge.

Hotels Own Introduction
Set amidst two serene lagoons and shaded by towering ebony and mahogany trees, the award-winning Mfuwe Lodge offers the perfect introduction to life in Luangwa. The open-plan reception, lounge, dining, and bar areas provide breathtaking views of the lagoons, where hippos wallow and thirsty wildlife gather—offering endless entertainment. The lodge’s 18 air-conditioned chalets are spread throughout the lush gardens, each featuring a private veranda that serves as an ideal vantage point to observe the passing wildlife. Inside, the chalets are outfitted with cozy sitting areas, imperial king or twin beds, and spacious en suite bathrooms with walk-in showers. The suites boast an additional upstairs seating area, while family rooms provide ample space for two children.
This region of the park is famed for its abundant wildlife, with giraffes, hippos, buffalo, antelope, and crocodiles frequenting Mfuwe Lodge’s lagoon. Guests can embark on thrilling game drives or, upon request, walking safaris to explore the area. A special highlight occurs in November, when local elephants stroll through the lodge’s lobby, drawn by the wild mango tree nearby—an unforgettable sight.
